The authors investigate the role that migration plays in the adjustement of labor markets to both long-term evolutions and region-specific business cycles. Their analysis, by combining regional and country data, uncovers the different adjustement that takes place within and across countries. These results are used to understand how the process of European integration will change the way European labor markets operate and its effect on growth and business cycles.
